The 10th Commandment

THE 10TH COMMANDMENT

"Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbors."
Exodus 20:17

God wisely gave Moses this 10th law because he knew that human beings who are always comparing themselves to others will never experience peace or contentment. They will always be looking over their shoulder at what the other guy has and what they do not. Comparison to others will make you miserable. There will always be the poor and there will always be the rich. Our goal is to do good, do right and trust God for the outcome.

The secret to maintaining the "joy" of your salvation is making a conscious decision not question why you have or have not. We have seen in recent days, Christians crash and burn just like Samson, as they lived in prosperity and self-glory. As we serve Him, the Word says that God is faithful and that He will supply all of our needs. If He happens to bless you abundantly, don’t squander His blessings. There will be an accounting someday of how you used what God had given to you and remember that only those things done for Christ will last.

Be faithful. Be consistent. And eventually we shall reap if we faint not. Be encouraged to continue to serve Him and don’t look to the left or the right, look only to the God the Father, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and trust the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you and you’ll come out just fine!
